The house was very nice. It was clean and there were plenty of beds for everyone. Very nice view of the lake. Had great control of the temperature in the house, both upstairs and downstairs. The kitchen was well stocked - it was great having the 2 full sized refrigerator/freezers and the 4 ovens - we used them all! The outside patios, decks, chairs and cushions looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while - quite a bit of dirt, leaves and spider webs - but understandable given the wooded environment. Would definitely consider staying here again.

We all had a great time. This is the ideal place for family get together. Whitney lake is literally across the street and the children love to jump off the cliffs. The two decks make it nice for everyone to enjoy the fresh air and it was the perfect place for grilling. Double French door refrigerators and the galley style prep and serving area make the kitchen wonderful. Thank you for hosting us and we will see you next year.

Our stay was great. The property is just as advertised online. It says that it sleeps 20 but there are also cots available on property that can be used. We loved it.

house was big enough for all my guests. lots of pots pans games and furniture. our family enjoyed fishing just across and street. neighbors friendly. over all great experience.

Excellent stay, excellent home, excellent host

We had an extended family birthday celebration and Derek and Lauren’s place was perfect for our large group! There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and a ton of space to spread out! We loved sitting out on the deck during the day and the kids loved the fenced in back yard. It was a great weekend and we would stay again.

Even for our mostly adult group the shuffleboard and ping pong got the most use. The house itself has its quirks and all but couldn't picture a better place for a large group to all stay together. Kitchen was great to have plenty of ovens and tables space.

Loved staying here! Beautiful surroundings. We had 15 people and there are many areas to hang out so we never felt cramped.

Beautiful property overlooking the lake. The host was very transparent and reimbursed us for a sink that was not fixed in time before we arrived. Derek went above and beyond in making us very comfortable and ordered in lighter and matchsticks for us. He addressed every question and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a spacious, well kept and comfortable stay away from home. Perfect location for us to bring in New Years.

Can we give 100 stars? This home was beautiful and much larger than what you can see from pictures. The entire place was spotless, warm and inviting. We were all very comfortable. It just felt like home. Now; what can we say about Derek? EXTREMELY proactive, responsive and polite! Our entire group are frequent air bnb users and we all agreed. Derek is among the best if not THE BEST host ever! So a HUGE thanks to Derek and his amazing family for making this a retreat to remember! We will definitely have his locations on our radar for all future events and getaways!

This home was perfect for our family Thanksgiving of 12 people. It had plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms and living space. It was about 20 minutes to Clifton and 20 minutes to Lake Whitney state park. Derek was always quick to respond to our questions and easy to work with. We would love to stay here again in the future!

This place was incredible. We had a large group of 20 for a ladies retreat. House was well stocked and furnished. It has amazing views of the lake and the starry sky at night. Highly recommend for large groups and family gatherings. Lots of gathering room at the dinner tables.

Needed a place for a group of 16, and this was just the right size with the perfect number bedrooms and bathrooms for our groups. Plenty of options for us to break into smaller groups when needed, and we could all be together when needed as well. Kitchen setup allowed for plenty of fridge space and easy meal prep/serving area for a large group.

Derek is a good communicator understanding big groups and our logistical needs. He was quick to respond and came up with great solutions. The house was well thought out and very comfortable!! We will book again.

We had a group of judges from Mongolia in for judicial training. They loved the house and had a great Texas experience. The deck was their favorite thing to do in the mornings, drinking coffee and hot tea and looking out at the water.

Really clean and nice place to stay for our wedding party

Pros: The house was spacious enough for our family, accommodating us comfortably. We were delighted to see deer around the property, which was a big hit with the kids. The upgraded kitchen was a standout feature—large and well-equipped with two refrigerators, making meal preparation easy. The two large dining tables were perfect for both casual breakfasts and formal dinners. We also appreciated the selection of board games and outdoor games that kept everyone entertained. Cons: The house as having eight bedrooms, but in reality, there were only four bedrooms on the ground floor, with two additional bedrooms upstairs other 2 were situated in a hallway layout, which compromised privacy. While the property boasts a lake view, accessing the lake requires driving due to a busy road and trees obstructing the way. The outdoor areas were less appealing, with spider webs, house needs significant updating, The bathrooms still had outdated pink and green tiles, reflecting the age of the house

We had a group of 14 ranging from age 3 to 70, and had even more space than we needed. The house was comfortable, kitchen was full of everything that was needed. Extra pillows and blankets, plenty of dishes and cookware, beautiful patios and so many options for everyone to stay busy. We had a couple of trips to the lake right down the street, but spent the majority the time at the house and never got bored. Ping Pong, shuffle board, pac man, games, cards and so many outdoor conversation areas. we saw at least 20 deer a day strolling by from the back patios, your eyes looking. From start to finish the hosts were extremely communicative and responded to every question I had, almost immediately. We'll definitely book again!

Loved this house! There is plenty of room for everyone to hangout but also not feel isolated between rooms to much. Location is perfect for a weekend getaway to Lake Whitney

Highly recommend staying at Derek and Lauren’s! Their place was perfect for our family vacation. Everyone had their own room and bathroom so it made sharing the space so easy. The common areas felt so cozy but easily accommodated our large group. We really enjoyed exploring the lake and the easy access to the state parks was definitely a perk. We will 10/10 be staying here again.
